Feeling Good at Heath Park Lodge

Feeling good was the theme for a fun packed event at Heath Park Lodge, Thatto Heath, St.Helens on Wednesday 7th October. Over 200 visitors to this free 'Feel Good' event enjoyed performances by belly dancers, Elvis and break dancers.

There was also an opportunity to take part in Tai Chi, jewellery making, glass painting, a comedy quiz, pamper sessions, as well as entry into a free raffle with great prizes donated by local and regional businesses. The teams wanted to show how pursuing hobbies, taking part in activities and enjoying performance and other arts can promote wellness as well as the opportunity for socialising.

The information zone provided contacts and links to other relevant groups and sources of support. Heath Park Lodge is a mental health resource centre promoting positive mental health to groups and individuals in St.Helens. Partners based at the Lodge are St.Helens Mind, the Social Inclusion Team, Making Space and The Coalition of Disabled People who worked together to plan and host the event to celebrate wellness and better mental health, as part of World Mental Health Week.

St.Helens Mayor Cllr. Terry Shields opened the event which ended with a hot pot supper and a performance by Irish Band, Roisin Dubh. The event is still being talked about two weeks later with great enthusiasm and the teams don't know how they can beat the impact of this fabulous event that really did make people feel good!
